Aftercare
At the end of your appointment, I will provide a healing balm to use over the next 2 weeks.
3 times a day for 3 days:
- lightly dab brows with wet paper towel (use clean filtered or bottled water), do not rub or scrub
- gently pat away the water with paper towel until skin is dry
- apply thin even layer of balm with clean fingers or q-tip
*I will physically demonstrate how to do this after your brows are done when we're going over aftercare*
Starting day 4:
- apply balm 2 times per day (morning and evening) until day 14
- you may very gently wash your brows with mild unscented cleansers (Cerave, Cetaphil) if you feel they are getting buildup/dirt/oil. softly pat dry afterwards any time your brows are wet.
MUST AVOID LIST for all 14 days:
- sweating
- exercise
- swimming
- direct sun exposure
- applying cosmetics or skincare directly to brows
- chemical exfoliants near the brows
- scratching or picking at brows (let any flakes come off on their own)
- sleeping on your side or face (friction from rubbing on pillows will disturb healing)
- face down massages, facials, laser treatments to the face, botox near brows, filler near forehead
While you must avoid swimming pools and sweating during the healing process, it is OKAY to get your brows wet momentarily while showering or washing your face. Do not apply direct water pressure to the face and be careful to not allow contact with harsh ingredients! If your brows get a little wet during your washing routine, just pat them dry with a clean paper towel. As long as your brows are not marinating in liquid and staying wet, you're ok. Do try your best to not let the shower get very steamy for too long.
After 2 weeks, you can apply cosmetics to the brows again and wash your face normally. You can also continue with your regular facial moisturizers and SPF.
The Healing Process | What to Expect in the First 6-8 weeks:
Intensified color, redness, and slight inflammation are part of the initial stages of healing. Be patient. Do not freak out. The intensity will regress within 7 days. The sensation can be comparable to that of a slight sunburn and minimal scabbing and/or flaking may take place. Refrain from picking at your brows as you may run the risk of removing pigment in the process. The true vibrancy of your cosmetic tattoo is achieved between weeks 3-5, in the time leading up to then you’ll experience some loss in color before it begins to resurface. Please keep in mind that most clients need at least one touch up session to get optimal results.
The Healed Results | Caring for my New Brows:
To preserve your healed results; apply sunscreen regularly, hats and larger sunglasses are encouraged, and avoid over exposure to the sun. Retinols, glycolic acid, microdermabrasion, and other cosmetic products can lighten the pigment with repeated use. When getting any procedures done to your face (ex: chemical peels, lasers) please let the individual performing the service know about your microbladed brows and continue at your own discretion. I am not responsible for any changes made to your brows in its reaction to any additional services you may receive.
